Rich Culture. Rich Conversation. Rich Gems.

The Journey to Glory

The title briefly describes my time attending the Houston leg of The Glory in My Story Book Tour.

As I sat in the cozy Class Bookstore, nestled near the campus of Texas Southern University, I was mesmerized by the beautiful individuals entering the room with anticipation on their faces, eager to see and hear from Monique Rodriguez, CEO and Owner of Mielle Organics and author of The Glory in Your Story.

I watched as individuals buried their faces in the book, getting glimpses of the chapters or reading the book jacket, while others stood around talking, laughing, and discussing different topics, from the various states people were from to the weather and the topic of which state has the best food. It felt like the family was gathering at an overdue family reunion. Just love and a sense of support in the room.

The time had come for everyone to take their seats as the guest of honor greeted people as she made her way to her seat to start “Conversation with Monique.”

The phrase “Dropping Gems” is an understatement when it comes to what Monique discussed and poured into aspiring and experienced entrepreneurs. The moderator, April Moore, asked questions that would give the audience a glimpse into who Monique is and her journey, watching God build Mielle, and now her journey to being an author.

The Glory in Your Story is a book that provides transparency as it discusses not only mountain-high moments, but those valley moments in building a business from the ground up, moments people from the outside looking in do not see. As Monique graciously answered questions, we as the audience were like a garden that she was pouring into to ensure our growth and to challenge us to get out there and move according to our God-given purpose.

The night was inspiring, and Monique shared profound and positively impactful Glory gems. However, below are just a few of my favorites from the night:

“Put yourself out there.”

“People are attached to your Authenticity.”

“Get over the hump of what people will think.”

“Passion and Purpose Collide.”

“Our purpose is to glorify God, and we have to find the vehicle to do that.”

I hope this small peek into what the night was like would encourage you to attend The Glory in Your Story Book Tour if it comes to a city near you.
