Mandy Price: An Advocate for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Diversity, equity, and inclusion are terms used throughout various organizations and companies that aim to foster fair and equal opportunities for people from various groups. DEI has programs and policies in place to advocate and fight for diversity. To make sure organizations have the proper tools in place to create long-term change, you have advocates like Mandy Price who is the CEO and Co-founder of Kanarys Inc., a technology company based in Dallas, Texas that fosters collaboration between companies and employees on DEI in the workplace.
Mandy Price left her career as an attorney to co-found Kanarys. She regularly speaks at notable DEI, tech, and leadership conferences, and she has been featured by Good Morning America, Forbes, Business Insider, and more. Kanarys serves major clients such as 7-Eleven, Silicon Labs, Chuck E. Cheese Corporation, and several other Fortune 500 companies.
As of 2023, her company raised $10.5 million. Mandy has joined fewer than 20 Black women founders to reach this milestone, and to raise this amount in funding for Kanarys since its inception in 2018 is impressive. Although these numbers are impressive and her company has had great success, it has not come without struggle and the need for perseverance.
One of the greatest struggles during fundraising has been in how quickly minority business owners can progress. There are still to this day many barriers that minority women face when it comes to funding and running their businesses. However, without fail, Mandy has persevered, and with her company, she is still making strides in something she is passionate about and that is creating truly inclusive and equitable workplaces.
