Fenty Hair: Rihanna’s New Hair Care Line Promises Dynamic Products for All

Robyn Rihanna Fenty, more commonly known by her stage name Rihanna, began her career as a pop star but turned to the beauty industry for even more success. The singer, originally from Barbados, is the second best-selling female musical artist of all time with over 250 million records sold internationally, and as of 2024, she is also the wealthiest female musical artist with a net worth estimate of over 1.4 billion.

In 2017, she launched Fenty Beauty, which sells makeup, skincare, fragrance, and now, as of June 13 haircare products. Upon Fenty Beauty’s initial launch, the company’s main focus was on its foundation, which went viral for the amount of inclusivity, not commonly seen with other foundations. The foundation had 40 shades but later included 10 more. Not only were the products very diverse, but so was the marketing of the brand which featured many models of all different races and ethnicities.

“What began as a concept, a desire really, for every person to feel truly represented, and not only included, but celebrated, has now become bigger than I ever imagined,” said Rihanna about her success with Fenty Beauty.

Rihanna created Fenty Beauty because she saw an inequity in the beauty world. Many women of darker complexions have trouble finding makeup and beauty products that compliment their skin, because of the lack of shade ranges usually carried by brands. Rihanna, even as a top international artist, experienced this inequality and saw fit that she was the one to solve this issue.

On June 13, 2024, Rihanna announced that Fenty Beauty would be releasing a haircare line. She was inspired to pursue this business venture because she very often switches her hairstyles, and wanted to demonstrate how in between styles, hair care is very important. The line prides itself on providing repairing hair products for every hair texture and type.
