Closing the Door to Summer but not the Memories
As we approach the end of another great summer, let us not forget to cherish the memories made with family and friends.
I must admit this summer seems to have gone by so quickly that creating memories and carving out time for others may have been a challenge. However, you still have a few more days before summer is officially over, so let’s talk about ways you can make the last few weeks count.
Gather your friends and family and have an end-of-summer brunch or tea. You can set aside time for each person to share some of their most memorable summer moments.
Schedule a pottery or painting class with some of your girlfriends. This is a time to steal away from the spouse and children so you can relax, laugh, and create together — creating paintings or vases and memories you can look back on and smile.
Take a solo trip. Yes, alone. Use this time to sit with yourself and reflect on your summer, your feelings, and where you see yourself in the future. This will help you plan accordingly. Sometimes the noise of family and friends will drown out what you need to hear from God and keep you from properly processing.
Lastly, get those cameras out and take pictures, videos, and more pictures. Capture every moment you can with your family and friends because a picture is worth more than a fleeting moment. Those pictures in moments of need can bring a smile, relief, and joy that we sometimes need especially in the absence of a loved one.
Summer may be ending but the memories never have to end. Yes, we may be closing the door on Summer but never the loving and cherished memories created during this time.
