A Conversation on Fashion, Gratitude & Empowerment with Rasha Jackson

Fashion is more than just clothing; it's a powerful form of self-expression. Rasha Jackson embodies this belief. As a Content Creator and Stylist, Rasha inspires many with her unique style and empowering messages. In our exclusive interview, Rasha shares her thoughts on fashion, the significance of gratitude, and her mission to empower others.

Can you tell us about your journey into fashion?

I have always been into clothes and looking my best. Working in the world of retail taught me how to shop the best price points and how to pull together an outfit on a budget.  Amongst my friends, I am usually asked to help put together attire for certain events or to assist with updating wardrobes. Then I started getting into posting my outfits on social media, giving tips on how to style certain pieces, and where I shop for certain pieces. From there, this led to me collaborating with a few brands and has also made me more comfortable creating content.

Can you describe your experience in collaborating with brands?

The very first brand that got my foot in the door as far as collaborations was Express. I was a Style Editor for over a year, and I even hosted an in-store styling event that was a huge success. This was a very positive experience that set me on the right path of being a creator. Now I have brands that reach out to me for opportunities. In all honesty, it’s really another job to me. I enjoy being a creator and sharing with my audience.

How do you stay current with fashion trends?

What keeps me in the loop with what is trending: VOUGE and Essence. Now, I do have my own style, so I am not into EVERY trend, I take trends and incorporate them into my style. I also scroll social media to see what my favorite influencers are wearing.

How do you practice gratitude in your daily life?

First and foremost, I thank God every day for my blessings. Things are not perfect, but I am extremely aware of how blessed I am and how not to take things for granted. I try to remain positive no matter how things might look and having my faith in God has helped to keep me grounded.

What role does gratitude play in your approach to fashion?

When we focus on what we already have and appreciate it, we’re more likely to create a wardrobe that’s meaningful and reflective of our true selves rather than chasing fleeting trends. It encourages mindful consumption and thoughtful choices, leading to a more fulfilling relationship with fashion.

How do you use fashion as a tool for empowerment in your community?

Encouraging individuals to express their unique identities through fashion can boost self-confidence and foster a sense of pride and belonging. Creating or participating in fashion-related groups or social media communities can foster a supportive network where individuals can share tips, resources, and encouragement.

How do you believe fashion can empower individuals?

Wearing clothes that reflect your personality can boost self-esteem and confidence. When people feel good in what they're wearing, it can positively impact their overall mood and self-image. Dressing appropriately for different occasions, especially in professional settings, can open doors to new opportunities. A well-curated wardrobe can help individuals project confidence and competence, aiding career growth.

How do you think gratitude can play a role in empowering women in their personal and professional lives?

Practicing gratitude can reduce stress and anxiety, leading to a more positive outlook and better emotional intelligence, which are essential for managing work pressures and personal challenges.

What is an act of kindness you witnessed recently?

In my personal life and content journey, I have seen an outpour of women from all over being supportive of each other and sharing opportunities that I am very grateful for since I wholeheartedly believe in supporting other women.

Lastly, how do you express gratitude in your own life, and how has that influenced your personal growth?

I express my gratitude by giving back to others. I have been so blessed in many areas of my life, and I want to be a blessing to others. When I do something kind, I do not expect anything in return nor am I boastful. Being humble and thankful for each opportunity has helped me grow so much into the woman that I am today.

Rasha Jackson isn’t just a stylist; she’s a movement. She invites everyone to join her in celebrating fashion as an expressive force.
